Abstract
A system is described where water vapor in the air is extracted with a desiccant and used to perform a humidity swing to release CO2 from a moisture responsive sorbent. A passive heat transfer mechanism is used to maintain constant temperature throughout the process and so requires no external heat source to operate. The process produces a large amount of potable water along with CO2, which enhances siting options where water scarcity is an issue, provides a second source of revenue that improves financial returns, and magnifies the environmental benefits of removing CO2 from the atmosphere.
