Charles Selected for Scientific Reports Editorial Board
In June, Lauren Charles, a chief data scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), joined the editorial board of Scientific Reports.
As a leading expert in digital biosurveillance and disease forecasting, Charles is joining the editorial board of the largest open access journal published by Nature Research.
At PNNL, Charles identifies connections between living things, such as humans, animals, and plants, and the environments they share through quantifiable data science and harmonization methods. Her research is used to strengthen One Health security and understanding of infectious disease processes.
“Being invited to serve on the board of Nature’s Scientific Reports emphasizes the growing importance of applying a One Health approach to tackle our biggest scientific challenges,” said Charles.
Charles is also an associate editor for CABI One Health, editorial board member for Pathogens, and has a joint appointment with Washington State University’s Paul Allen School for Global Health.
