Henry Accepts Joint Appointment with Texas A&M University
PNNL data scientist will further collaborations in national security
Michael Henry, a senior data scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), has accepted a joint appointment at the Texas A&M University RELLIS Center for Applied Research and Experiential Learning. Henry will also be the inaugural Director of the Experiential Learning Environment, a component of the newly established Human Machine Ecosystem Laboratory.
“This laboratory is designed to take AI enabled tools and get them into the hands of operators,” said Henry. “This will close the research cycle between the development of the capability, assessing its applicability in an operational environment and then using those outcomes to inform further research.”
The Texas A&M University RELLIS Center for Applied Research and Experiential Learning provides a collaborative environment for multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional teaching, research, and workforce development instruction committed to blending industry expertise with innovative research.
“I’m really looking forward to being able to take research and put it in the hands of people who can actually use it to solve problems,” said Henry. “A lot of people within the national security community will get advanced trainings or degrees at RELLIS. I’m excited to interact with them, learn more about the problems they face, find ways to take research from PNNL and external partners, and get it into their hands to get feedback in this environment.”
