Biography
Emily Dykes is a STEM education consultant and has been at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) working in the Office of STEM Education since June 2017. She began her career at PNNL as a business student intern, supporting high-level external-facing STEM stakeholder engagements and efforts, developing benchmarking metrics to inform future program pilots, supporting student internship programs and strategic outreach, assisting with the development and writing of several white papers, and providing operational support to the group. Dykes also served as a volunteer coordinator for the Department of Energy Regional Science Bowl. With her strong background in communications, Dykes continues to elevate and bring professionalism to her versatile portfolio. At present, she engages with proposal development work, serves on the team for a community-led initiative, and continues to cultivate and improve upon current communication collateral, with a keen eye and passion for graphic design and writing. With a strong attention to detail, efficiency, and adaptability in the workplace, she is diligent to serve the needs of the future STEM workforce.
Her current work includes serving as the National Security Internship Program (NSIP) and Energy and Environment Diversity Internship Program (EEDIP) program manager. She also serves as the project coordinator for the Yakima Valley/Tri-Cities (YVTC) Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program. Additionally, Dykes serves as a member of the Gold Experience team, providing student interns a fulfilling, well-rounded experience and contributing to the planning and execution of professional development, peer networking and leadership events, as well as serving as a moderator for research symposia. Dykes received her BA in communications from the University of Washington, Seattle.
