Wetland Research Sites at PNNL-Sequim
PNNL-Sequim owns or has access to pristine coastal wetlands for long-term research. The marsh and estuary area north of the MCRL facilities is a field research venue that examines links between terrestrial, aquatic, and atmospheric processes at the interface betwe en fresh and saltwater systems. For more than two decades, researchers have studied eelgrass in the area east of MCRL to determine responses to changing water conditions, including temperature, sea level rise, pH, and turbidity. Both areas are supported by field instrumentation and data-collection systems.
